About The Hanen Program

Capital letter The Hanen Program is a family focused program for parents of children who are delayed in their language development which recognizes the importance of involving parents and the need to help children and families as early as possible in a child's life to promote communication.  The program was developed by the Hanen Centre and is recognized around the world for its quality and effectiveness.

The Hanen Early Language Program

Hanen Programs help children communicate by providing intensive and innovative raining programs for parents and caregivers. Parents/caregivers spend The greatest amount of time with their children and have the greatest opportunity to help their children communicate. Given information and strategies, parents/caregivers have many opportunities to improve their children's speech and language skills.

Hanen programs began more than 20 years ago and translate the most current research on language acquisition and early language intervention into practical, hands-on approach that is respectful of parents'/caregivers' and children's individual differences.

Hanen Programs:

bullet Give parents/caregivers knowledge and skills necessary to encourage speech and language development of their children during everyday activities and situations.
bullet Combine the benefit of shared interactive group learning with individual Guidance and consultation through videotaping and feedback.
bullet Are led by a speech-pathologist who is Hanen trained and certified.
bullet Are supported by excellent print and video resources.

Hanen Programs Offered:

bullet I offer a fall, spring and winter program of approximately 8 to 10 weekly classes. During the summer months, I offer a one day intensive workshop. Programs are held at my office, typically on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 pm. Days may vary dependent upon program needs. The one day workshop is offered on Friday and/or Saturday.
bullet I also offer a one day Hanen Workshop with the purpose being to assist parents in learning and implementing strategies to assist their child's language development.  This is designed and intended for children birth to age 3 with some degree of language delay or who may possibly be at risk while developing language.
bullet I am also available to present an early baby language and communication program for Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) and Mother's Day Out (MDO) or any group focusing on early child development.
